Design: #668 Dragonflies
Date Designed: 1907
Designer: Alice Craig; the sister of Charles Craig, who was a noted Colorado artist & personal friend of Artus Van Briggle
Description: Tall vase, with two handles in the shape of dragonflies, covered in a Mulberry glaze. This design has been known to be advertised simply as a two-handled vase, without recognition of the dragonflies! Bottom markings include the inscribed Double-A, Van Briggle, Colo. Spgs., design #668 and etcher/finisher mark of #18 to the left of the Double-A; all indicative of the 1907-12 production period. J. Emma Kinkead recorded that she used the #18 mark. Pieces with that mark have meticulous detailing. (possibly/unclear, a finisher mark to the right of the Double-A.)
Dimensions: 10 3/8″ height
Other: The only design created by Alice Craig for VBPCo.
Collection: Courtesy of Kenneth Talmadge Stacks
